An inquest has been formally opened into the death of a Bucks New Univeristy student Ivan Kulyk, whose body was found in woodland near Marlow last month.

Buckinghamshire Coroners confirmed proceedings began yesterday into determining the last moments of the 21-year-old from Tilehurst in Reading.

Officers confirmed the cause of death was compression of the neck, consistent with hanging.

Police found his body after a search of woodland in Medmenham on February 28 after he went missing on February 17.

The discovery came after CCTV footage emerged of him getting off a bus in the sleepy south Bucks village 11 days before.

Yesterday's hearing was adjourned, with full evidence to be heard at Beaconsfield Coroners Court later this year.

Students, friends and university staff paid tribute to the “happy and smiley” human resources student, originally from Ukraine, who was in his third year at the High Wycombe campus.
