Sparkling students from Wycombe Abbey School are celebrating after being named the best UK enterprise team by a fizzy drink manufacturer.

The national competition is organised by Coca-Cola Enterprises, and after a lot of hard work, including attending a reception at the House of Commons and designing their mobile phone app, they have been crowned as this year’s winners.

One of their prizes will see the app created and made available to the public, as the company aims to raise funds for competition partners, Special Olympics Great Britain.

Wycombe Abbey School teacher Louise Peden said: “This has been an amazing opportunity for our students to develop skills they wouldn’t have the chance to in the classroom.

“They have shown themselves to be extremely creative and mature during the two day national final – and they gave a brilliant presentation. I’m extremely proud of what they have achieved.”

Following a Parliamentary reception at the House of Commons the students went on to present at the Grand Final, which also took place in London.

Having been crowned overall winners of the 2014/15 Real Business Challenge, the team from Wycombe Abbey School will receive a digital workshop to help develop their app with a view to making it available for download from iTunes.

All of the teams will also have their campaign poster designs developed and installed at bus stops near the school later in the year, raising further awareness for the SOGB charity.

Now in its eleventh year, the Real Business Challenge organisers say the competition is designed to inspire and educate young people, helping them gain the skills they need to have a competitive edge in the job market.
