The death of a woman in a flat fire this week has been described as a tragedy by the housing association which owns the property.

Firefighters tackled the blaze in Holtspur, near Beaconsfield, late on Monday evening and discovered a body after entering the flat.

Neighbours in Kiln Court are now being supported by housing company London and Quadrant.

James Howell, a spokesman for L&Q, said: β€œOn Monday night a fire occurred at one of our properties in Beaconsfield, which has tragically resulted in a fatality.

β€œL&Q staff have been supporting all the other residents at the property at this difficult time and we are liaising with the authorities. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the lady who passed away.”

Firefighters, along with an officer, were called to the scene at 11.21pm and ensured that adjoining flats were not affected and worked to reassure other residents that the incident had been dealt with and that they could stay in their flats.

A fire investigation is being carried out and an inquest is due to be opened.
