Asian gold, watches, handbags, perfume and electrical items were stolen from a house in High Wycombe last week.
It is believed that burglars put an implement through the letterbox to open the front door while the occupants were out between 9.30am and 10.30am last Thursday (March 19).
Police are now appealing for witnesses and would like to speak to a man who had visited the house offering to buy Asian gold for cash on two occasions in the weeks prior to the burglary.
He is described as white, very tall, stocky and had a brown beard. The man spoke with a southern Irish accent. On one occasion he left in a small white vehicle.
Anyone with information should contact officers on 101 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
