NEGOTIATIONS to extend popular steam trains from Chinnor to Princes Risborough could be resolved by the end of the year.
Network Rail and the Chinnor and Princes Ris-borough Railway Association have been in discussions over the proposals.
Designs have already been drawn up and are currently waiting to be assessed by Network Rail, which is also looking at safety and planning issues.
The railway currently runs from March until October between Chinnor and Thame junction.
The railway association hopes that all planning issues will have been resolved by the end of 2007.
Roger Fagg, chairman of the association, said: "We are in constant contact with Network Rail and negotiations have so far been quite successful."
