Driving a taxi without a licence has resulted in a Chesham man having to pay up nearly £2,500.
Mohammed Suhail Siddique was caught by members of Chiltern District Council's licensing authority driving a private hire vehicle, having had his licence revoked the previous year.
Siddique, of Acacia Road, had his licence taken off him in 2014 for failing to comply with its terms or council policies.
But the 27-year-old continued to operate as a taxi driver without holding the necessary licence, which resulted in him being prosecuted by the council.
Siddique pleaded guilty to driving a licensed private hire vehicle without holding the necessary licence, when he appeared before magistrates in Milton Keynes on Friday, March 27. He was ordered to pay a total of £2,380 in fines and costs.
In a statement Chiltern District Council said: "All drivers are required to wear their licence badge prominently when working and have a licence plate on their vehicle. Passengers are advised to check that both the vehicle plate and driver badges are present and have not expired before entering the vehicle.
"If members of the public have any concerns about a taxi or private hire vehicle in either Chiltern or South Bucks districts they can contact our licensing officers on 01494 732063."
