A nusery in Marlow is celebrating after it was named one of the best places in the country to work.

Victoria House Day Nursery on Victoria Road scooped ninth place in the prestigious Sunday Times ‘Best 100 Companies to Work For’ lists.

It received the accolade as part of the Childbase group, one of only 139 UK organisations to receive the three-star ‘Extraordinary’ accreditation in the study.

Area manager Julie Richardson said: "When you are committed to giving young children the very best start in life, a happy supported staff team is vital.

"Ofsted inspectors have told us repeatedly that a happy and engaged staff team equals happy children."

The Childbase Partnership, of which Victoria House is a part, was ranked fifth out of 100 UK companies for making good use of employee skills and for career development initiatives.

Mrs Richardson said the firm's training methods ensure all the members are motivated enough to achieve the high standards.

Childbase, which has 46 day nurseries in the south of England, has seen a rise of 81 places in five years in the rankings.
