A 19-year-old girl was injured after she was hit by a falling tree in Cookham, yesterday afternoon.

South Central Ambulance Service has now confirmed the teenager, who was hit is Sutton Road, was taken to Wexham Park Hospital with suspected back injuries.

Firefighters were the first to arrive on the scene after a call was made to the emergency services at about 3.35pm.

Crews helped give first aid to the girl before handing her into the care of paramedics.

Her current condition has not yet been confirmed, but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Strong winds battered the south of Buckinghamshire yesterday causing traffic chaos, with a fallen tree forcing Amersham Road to be shut for about five hours, between Hazlemere and Terriers.
