Children from Wycombe Hospital Day Nursery helped plant two trees last week.

The budding gardeners helped Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust team and Janseen UK, a pharmaceutical company, plant trees for sustainability on Thursday.

Janssen donated two rhododendron bushes for the event to coincide with NHS Sustainability Day.

Clinton Green, director of property services for the trust, said: “NHS Sustainability Day gives us a chance to celebrate and drive forward initiatives that are helping us to create a more sustainable environment.

“Janssen are important local partners and we’re very pleased to have their support.”

Mark Hicken, managing director of Janssen, who attended the planting, said: “As part of a global healthcare company we are delighted to support NHS Sustainability Day.

“For the last few years we have backed this great initiative by planting trees at our site in High Wycombe.

“This year we decided to join forces with Wycombe Hospital to plant the trees here so that they can contribute to a sustainable future at the hospital and be enjoyed by staff, patients and the local community.”
