Bucks Fire and Rescue were called to a house in School Close at about 9.15pm yesterday after neighbours spotted flames coming from a back garden.

Two crews from High Wycombe battled the blaze, which also damaged electricity cables above the shed.

Neighbours have since described the moment they spotted the large fire, and how there was concern it would spread to the property.

Sue Prior said: “It was my husband who saw it first. He looked out and said our neighbour’s shed was on fire. I looked and couldn’t believe how vicious it was.

“It came into our garden and damaged a few chairs and our table, but all-in-all it wasn’t too bad for us and we’re lucky it didn’t spread too much further.

“The flames were very high and have singed some of the electricity cables and we have been without power today.

“It didn’t take long for a lot of people to notice and most people came out of their houses to see what was going on.

“We’ve never had anything like that down here before.”

Another resident, who did not want to be named, said that the whole garden looked like it was on fire, it was lucky it wasn’t worse and that no one was hurt.

Power to some of the properties was reportedly cut off this morning as technicians examined the damaged electricity cables.

It was the second fire to destroy a shed in the High Wycombe area, in the last two week.
