Veterans, armed forces, reservists, cadets and present serving members of the military joined the Lord Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire last week as the countdown for the Armed Forces Day celebrations was started.

The Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Armed Forces Day 2015 will be held on June 27 in Aylesbury, and on Friday Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher officially launched the countdown for the event.

The day will be a family event for more than 10,000 people, with a wide range of activities planned.

These include a fun fair, a stage with live music, zip wire, hot air balloon rides, bouncy castles and a fantastic air show and more.

Hot food, a tea tent with live music, and a bar will also be available.

Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher said: "It’s important for Buckinghamshire to celebrate Armed Forces Day as this event is our way of saying thank you to all the ex-servicemen and women in the county for what they have done, as well as showing our support for those who are still serving in the armed forces today.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to come out in force to show their support on the day.”

RAF Halton station commander, group captain Adrian Burns, said: "The appreciation and thanks shown by the people of Buckinghamshire on Armed Forces Day is absolutely pivotal to maintaining the high morale of my people here RAF Halton.

"This includes my regulars from all three Services, reservists, veterans and their families, and it is immensely gratifying to be valued by the local community for our part in securing the United Kingdom at home and abroad."
