A man has died after a crash between a car and a lorry on the M40 this morning.

A 26-year-old man from the Reading area died at the scene of the collision on the M40 at around 3.30am this morning.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 1a for the M25 and junction 2 for Beaconsfield, with a collision between a White DAF lorry and a white Mercedes car.

The lorry driver, a 53-year-old man, was uninjured in the crash, but the Mercedes driver sadly died.

His next of kin have been informed.

The crash caused huge rush hour delays, with two lanes closed this morning.

Sgt Ed Crofts from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We are very keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on that stretch of road, either north or southbound, at that time and may have seen the collision or either vehicles prior to the incident to please call us as a matter of urgency.”
