A resident has told of her joy after a community rallied together to save a popular village pub from being turned into a house.

Vicky Griffiths, who has lived in Radnage for over 60 years, told how she was thrilled when she learned that the application to turn the Three Horseshoes in Radnage into a five-bedroom house was refused.

The award-winning pub was threatened with closure after a planning application to turn it into a five-bedroom house was submitted to Wycombe District Council at the end of last year.

The application was refused last week after more than 70 objection letters were sent to the council from residents and pub regulars.

The community rallied around to turn the pub into a community asset to save it.

Mrs Griffiths said: "We are all really thrilled. When I found out the application had been refused I felt like opening the Champagne."

The pub is still up for sale and now Mrs Griffiths hopes a new owner will buy it.

She said: "As a community, we cannot buy it ourselves so we need someone nice to come along and buy it now. Someone who will look after it and keep it running."
