Nearly 200 people packed out a church in Marlow at the weekend for performances by four of the best wind bands in the area.

Saturday’s gala band concert in Marlow was part of the Marlow Festival of Wind and Brass Music, which runs for a fortnight.

The Bisham Concert Band, Chiltern Hills Brass, Maidenhead Concert Band and the Big Band from High Wycombe Music Centre all belted out classics at All Saints Church.

Organiser Martin Ashford said: “The quality of the performances belied the fact that the musicians are all local amateurs, and their enthusiasm and commitment was evident.”

Event organisers say they plan to stage a bigger and better band concert next year, to make the occasion a landmark on Marlow's musical calendar.

This year's festival concludes this Saturday with a jazz improvisation workshop tomorrow and final informal concert.
