A gathering of some of Marlow’s biggest companies takes place today as a group set up to improve the town’s business park meets for the first time.

The Business Improvement District (BID) sees all the businesses in Marlow’s industrial area pay into a fund for upgrades to the area.

Car parking is expected to be high on the agenda today as one representative for each firm attends to make their views heard.

The BID was set up in conjunction with Wycombe District Council, with companies voting in favour of paying a levy towards a collected cash pot for improvements.

A business park manager, Ronnie Fleming, was brought in and an executive board formed, which includes property expert Paul Deriaz and chairman Steve Lewis of the Marlow Club.

Priorities for the group include a solution to ease the crowded streets, which may result in a multi storey car park being built on the industrial estate.

Road surfacing, signage and public transport issues are also expected to be tackled over the five-year plan for the business park, which includes Fieldhouse Lane and Globe Park.

Any changes will be implemented using nearly £1million over five years paid by the companies through a levy on business rates.

Some of Marlow’s most successful growing businesses call the town’s industrial area home, including IT firm Softcat and a number of companies owned by Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Peter Jones.

The meeting – only open to businesses – will take place at Marlow Rugby Club at 12pm.
