Pirates will take over Marlow today for an annual fancy dress party to raise money for a fund set up in memory of a tragic Marlow schoolboy.

Marlow Pirate Day sees businesses and residents dressed as plunderers from the high seas to raise funds for the Harry Mills Fund.

Fundraising events take place throughout the day, with the annual ‘Pirate Quiz’ at the Slug and Lettuce pub from 1pm.

Impressively attired characters took to the Marlow Bridge this morning and collected cash from passing drivers.

Charlotte Hazelwood, who has helped to organise the day said: "It was great, every time we do it we see lots of people that knew Harry.

"A lot of people showed their support this morning which was really good."

The annual fun day is masterminded by design agency FST, with staff members out in the High Street all day shaking buckets for the cause.

Marlow schoolboy and avid sportsman Harry Mills died in 2007 aged 11 after contracting meningitis.

Since his shock death, his parents Richard and Judi Mills have tirelessly raised over £120,000 in his memory with the help of Marlovians.

And in March, the family celebrated a victory in their campaign to see a vaccine for meningitis B rolled out nationwide.
