A former councillor who yesterday pleaded guilty to failing to reveal information about his entitlement to benefits will be sentenced in July.

Former Chiltern District Councillor Howard Trevette changed his plea to guilty on what was due to be the start of his trial at Aylesbury Crown Court.

He and his wife Danna admitted an offence of failing to give prompt notification of a change in circumstances which affected entitlement to benefit.

No date for sentencing was set in court yesterday as nobody was available from the probation service, but it has since been confirmed the couple, of The Broadway, Amersham, will return to court to learn their fate on Thursday, July 2.

Judge Kristina Montgomery warned the pair yesterday that all sentencing options - including imprisonment - are open.
