A burglar entered an elderly man’s home while his accomplice distracted him at the front door in Chalfont St Giles last week. 

A man knocked on the resident’s front door in Eleanor Road at around 5.25pm on Friday, May 22.

The  man started to walk around the outside of the house when the door was answered and the elderly resident followed him, while another man entered the house through a back door.

The burglar was challenged by another person in the house and he escaped without taking anything.

One of the men is described as white, stocky, around 40 years old and 5ft 6ins tall.

The other man was also white, around 40 years old, and about 5ft 8ins tall. He was slim with dark, medium length hair and stubble and was wearing a pale grey t-shirt and dark trousers.

Police are appealing for information about the incident.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Lucy Seabright, of Taplow Local CID, said: “This was a frightening experience for the home owners and I would ask anyone who may have information about these men to contact the police on 101.”
