One of Britain’s most celebrated cycle stars drops into Marlow for coffee next week ahead of a prestigious race coming to town next month.

Seven times British cyclo-cross champion Helen Wyman will be at Costa in Higginson Park at 10.30am on Thursday, June 4.

The champion is appearing to promote major cycle race the Aviva Women’s Tour, which sets off from Marlow for its fifth and final leg on June 21.

No bookings are necessary, with cycle fans able to turn up and have chat with the multiple champion.

Known as the Queen of British cyclo-cross, Wyman has won the British national title seven consecutive times from 2006 to 2012.

She was also crowned European Cyclo-cross Champion for a second consecutive year in 2013, which led to a rise in the cyclo-cross world rankings to second, a career high.

Next month’ event will set off from Marlow before snaking its way through the Chilterns.

It is the first time the tour has visited Marlow, and will build on the successful stage six of the men's Tour of Britain which came through the Chilterns in September.

Last year’s Women’s Tour featured stars including London 2012 medallist Lizzie Armitstead, and was won by Dutch rider Marianne Vos.

Marlow’s cycle club the Marlow Riders have described the spectacle as a "superb" boost for the sport in the town.
