KATHERINE BAKER excelled when representing Great Britain in an international Under-16 match against the Netherlands last weekend at the Sutton Indoor tennis centre in Surrey.
Selected as number four in the team, Katherine,14, produced an outstanding performance, winning four of her five matches.
In the singles, Katherine defeated the opposition numbers two, three and four players, all in straight sets, and only lost to the 16-year-old Dutch number one in a final-set tie break.
Katherine, a pupil at Parmiters School in High Elms Lane, Garston, and her partner, also won their doubles match, completing a significant personal contribution to a 13-5 win for Britain.
Following a successful trip to Florida in December, where she competed in a number of tournaments, culminating in the prestigious Orange Bowl tournament, Katherine is now rated inside the top three in the country in her Under-15 age group.
Katherine now travels to Finland and Belgium to compete in junior and senior tournaments.
