The main route through High Wycombe will be closed at night for much of the summer while work continues on a ‘masterplan’ to redirect traffic in the town.
The A40 will be closed from the junction with Desborough Avenue and The Pastures to the A4128 roundabout at the flyover by the Eden centre from Monday until August 7.
The route will close at 7pm each night and reopen at 6am.
A diversion will be in place, with drivers forced to travel up Desborough Avenue and down Marlow Hill to get back to the A40.
The work is the latest stage of the High Wycombe Town Centre Masterplan, which will see traffic redirected around the edge of town.
An alternative route will be created along Desborough Road through the old gasworks site and on to Marlow Hill.
The £2millon project aims to take pressure off the ageing Abbey Way flyover which cuts through the centre of High Wycombe.
