Schoolchildren jumped for joy at the Buckinghamshire mini-Olympics this weekend as 1,500 pupils from across the county competed in 13 different sports.

The youngsters aged from seven to 14 descended on Stoke Mandeville Stadium for the Sainsbury’s School Games, which also boasted guest speakers and dance performances.

The stadium was the venue for the opening ceremony and several of the competitions, while other sports were held around Aylesbury.

Schools from High Wycombe, Bourne End, Flackwell Heath, Loudwater, Marlow, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Princes Risborough, Chesham, Amersham, Great Missenden, Holmer Green, Hazlemere, Great Kingshill and the Chalfonts took part on the day.
