Two pensioners were assaulted after an “unprovoked” road rage attack in High Wycombe this week.

A skip lorry driver is alleged to have kicked and assaulted the driver and passenger of a car after a minor collision between the two vehicles on the London Road, near to the entrance of the Rye, at about 12.20pm on Monday.

After stopping and getting out of their vehicles on the busy main road following the collision, the lorry driver kicked and assaulted the driver of a burgundy Renault, a man in his seventies, until he fell to the ground, police said.

The passenger of the car, also in his seventies, then attempted to restrain the offender, but he was then attacked and assaulted by the same man who forced him to the ground.

One of the men sustained cuts to his wrist and the other sustained a leg injury, neither of which required hospital treatment.

Investigating officer PC Jessica Martin, from High Wycombe police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident itself or anyone who saw the vehicles travelling prior to the collision.

“This incident was a completely unprovoked attack on two members of the public on a busy road, which was full of traffic at the time.

“If you have any information which could assist with the investigation, please contact the police.”
