A six-year-old girl has been injured after a collision with a car in High Wycombe this afternoon.

The young girl, who police described as “local”, was hit in Wingate Avenue, near the junction of Wingate Close, at about 5pm and has now been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital.

Two air ambulances landed in the area, but crews were not used.

The child was taken to hospital by road paramedics.

Speaking at the scene, Sgt Anthony Griffiths, said: “A collision occurred here about 5pm this afternoon where a little girl has been in collision with a vehicle.

“At the moment [time of speaking] the girl has been taken to the JR2 and the ambulance [crews] are working on her.

“At this moment I don’t have any update on her condition.

“It is under investigation to establish the facts of what has happened and that is why we want any witnesses to come forward.”
