Resurfacing work starts today on the A404 Bisham roundabout for two weeks.

“Essential” road works are taking place on the infamous traffic blackspot that is already a cause for controversy after ongoing attempts to improve the junction.

From August 3 lanes will be closed on all approach roads of the Bisham Roundabout and the roundabout itself between 10pm -6am for five days to make way for significant resurfacing work.

A further five nights of work will take place between the same hours from August 10 which will involve the full closures of the A404 north and southbound carriageways between the Marlow interchange and the A4130 Burchett’s Green junction.

Signed diversions will be provided on route via the M4, M25 and M40 for motorway permitted vehicles and via Henley on Thames for residents and motorway restricted vehicles.

Kathryn Biofield, of EM Highway Services said: “I would like to apologise for any disturbance or inconvenience caused by the works and would emphasise that our contractors work to strict procedures to ensure minimal noise at night.”

This follows the Royal Borough of Maidenhead’s rejection of proposals made by Highways England to reduce traffic flow on the roundabout, with cabinet member for transport Colin Rayner saying the plans were “a waste of tax payer’s money.”
