Young cancer sufferers were given a day of fun and treats at the weekend as they were invited to Adams Park which had been transformed into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory in a bid to raise money for charity.

In support of The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund, a charity started in memory of the teenager from Prestwood who died in 2003, the special day was hosted at the home of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club.

Organised by United Biscuits, a company based in Sands, children from across the county were invited to join in the fun day and raise money for charity.

Hosted in an on-site marquee, decorated with ‘pure imagination’ there was lots of activities for the golden ticket-invited children, including biscuit decorating opportunities, chocolate fountains, face painting, plus jelly bean and cream cracker challenges.

They were also given a tour of the football stadium and the children got the chance to meet two of the players, Alexander Lynch and Daniel Rowe, who later got involved in the events and had a small football game with some of the older children.

Charity chairman Elaine Ball said: “We would like to thank United Biscuits for working so hard to make all this possible.

“The children who attended were all put forward by High Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville and The John Radcliffe Hospitals, they all had a diagnosis of either cancer or leukaemia and it was so lovely that they had this opportunity to enjoy a special day, just for them.

“Feedback from parents was so positive, all felt that their children had hugely benefited from the day and were allowed to express themselves in a safe, friendly environment that was down to United Biscuits staff giving so much attention to detail and getting things just perfect.”
