The popular Beaconsfield Country Fayre is set to wow audiences as it returns today.

This year visitors to the fayre, which will be held in Windsor End on Monday, can enjoy the infamous stretcher race, classic car show and dog show as well as a birds of prey display, giant inflatable slide and climbing wall.

Craft and food stalls, a great balloon race, children's Go-Karts and live music from the Phoenix Jazz Band will also keep visitors entertained.

The annual stretcher race, which dates back to the 1970s, will see teams of four in fancy dress carry a fifth person on a stretcher around a course of seven pubs, stopping for half a pint at each one.

For budding young athletes, the children’s version of the stretcher race will see teams of four carrying a teddy bear over a shorter, alcohol-free course.

There will be a very special visitor to the classic car show, with the revolutionary Tesla 100 per cent electric Model S set to draw in the crowds.

Alex Dunlop, of AJ Dunlop Car Servicing Ltd, said “This year we will have old meeting the new and I can see a lot of people will be really interested in seeing the Tesla for the first time.

"I shall be twisting their arm to see if Tesla Motors can do something special for the Country Fayre, as well as allow me a drive in the car."

Dog owners will be entering their pets into this year's dog show, which has ten classes including pedigree classes and the dog with the waggiest tail, all hoping to win the coveted Straid Cup for best dog in show.

Despite torrential rain, last year's fun family fayre managed to raise £6,500 for good causes, bringing their total to over £100,000 over the years.

Organisers are hoping to raise another £15,000 this year as generous local businesses offered sponsorship and luxury prizes.

A hot air balloon ride for two from J Bennett and son, a meal for four at Brassiere Blanc and a champagne tea for two at The Crazy Bear are all up for grabs in the raffle.

Simon Woolf, Beaconsfield Country Fayre committee member, said: "We have some really generous people and companies who have offered to help us and support us this year.

"We are praying for good weather. We will have a great day with lots of fun and hopefully raise lots of money for charity."

The fayre will run from 11am to 4pm in Windsor End.
