A 38-year-old man has been charged after a suspected knife attack left two Eden Shopping Centre security guards injured.

The men were assaulted at about 1.30pm following an incident at Tesco, in High Wycombe town centre, with one worker needing hospital treatment after suffering head injuries.

Sarfraz Shaheen, of Green Street, High Wycombe, was charged yesterday with one count of attempted wounding with intent, one count of threatening a person with a bladed/ sharply pointed article in a public place and one count of assault by beating.

The charge is in connection with an incident at the Tesco supermarket in Newlands Street on Saturday, police say.

Shaheen was remanded in custody and appeared at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

A 34-year-old man from High Wycombe arrested on Sunday on suspicion of theft from a shop and conspiracy to commit GBH in connection with the incident was bailed until September 29.
