High Wycombe dignitaries enjoyed twin celebrations overseas last week as special guests commemorated the 30th anniversary of a link between the town and another community in Germany.
As part of a biennial trip to Kelkheim on Friday, August 28, special guests including mayor Mohammed Hanif celebrated the special links between the communities and unveiled a new sculpture at a special ceremony.
Nineteen people from High Wycombe made the trip to the town over the weekend and were given a guided tour of the area before meeting Kelkheim mayor, Albrecht Kündiger.
The two Mayors then inaugurated a sculpture called “Mobile” to commemorate the 30 years of twinning.
Before heading back to High Wycombe on Sunday, the guests attended a ceremony re-affirm the twinning link between the two towns which was attended by some of the people who were responsible for the original twinning 30 years ago.
The trips to Kelkheim are a regular feature of the twinning activities and the travel costs are funded by the individuals participating with accommodation being provided by the German host families.
