From wacky races, to a classic car presentation and a dog show, the Beaconsfield Country Fayre entertained residents on a wet bank holiday Monday.

Visitors who braved the rain enjoyed all of the summer showpiece’s extravagant events, including the infamous stretcher race which saw teams pitted against each other running through the Old Town from pub to pub.

Craft and food stalls, a great balloon race, children's Go-Karts and live music from the Phoenix Jazz Band also kept the crowds entertained.

Simon Woolf, Beaconsfield Country Fayre committee member, said: “It was a great day and once again great to see so many people come out and support the event, despite the rain.

“People just supported the day, the organisers and all of the attractions. Last year the rain was dreadful. It wasn’t great this year with the weather, but we had a lot of people attend.”

He added: “I would like to thank all of those who joined in on the day, and also our sponsors who continue to do what they can so we can run this great event.”

For budding young athletes, the children’s version of the stretcher race also invited teams of four to carry a teddy bear over a shorter, alcohol-free course.

The classic car show was one of the biggest attractions, with the revolutionary Tesla 100 per cent electric Model S drawing in the crowds.

Dog owners were also given a chance to take a lead by entering their pets into this year's dog show, which had ten classes including pedigree and the dog with the waggiest tail.
