A Holmer Green sixth-former said she is ‘excited’ to have won a national art competition.
Holmer Green Senior School pupil and budding artist Emily Shaw, 18, entered her quirky ketchup textile piece along with two other works into a national competition and won.
Her pop art-inspired art, which was created using material and fine machine embroidery, will now feature in Cutting Edge magazine.
The magazine is viewed by thousands of students and teachers across the UK and Ireland.
The A-grade year 13 pupil is hoping to go to university and study textiles next year and is currently building on her winning designs with screen prints and constructed textile pieces.
Emily said: “I was very shocked to have won, but equally excited. I can't wait to purchase new art materials with the prize money to use on future projects."
Annie Hearne, Senior Leader - Creative Curriculum at the school, said: “"We are very proud of Emily, she works so hard. Emily is applying to do Textiles at university, so this will look fantastic on her CV."
