Violent criminals can expect the full force of Thames Valley Police to come down on them if they harm others in Wycombe, a top police chief has said.

In recent weeks there have been a number of high-profile alleged crimes across the town with officers now saying they will do all they can to lock-up those responsible and stamp out violent attacks.

Superintendent Ed McLean said: “If you commit an offence like that, you can be absolutely sure the whole of my force investigation team will do all they can, or in the case of a murder, the major crime unit, to catch those responsible.

“The latest data I got from my Force CID detective inspector was that in 94 per cent of the time there has been a serious assault, something like a stabbing, or GBH, someone has been convicted or charged.”

Despite an alleged murder, alleged stabbings and an attack on a police officer, overall violent crime has dropped across the district, he said.

Supt McLean added: “Serious violent crime is still quite rare in its nature, the problem you have is that you’ve got some fairly high profile incidents that have all occurred very close to each other, none of which are connected.”
