An eighteen-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of this morning as she was walking home through a park in Cookham.

Thames Valley Police say that between midnight and 12.45am the victim was walking passed a group of males when one approached her.

The man tried to talk to her, but when she ignored him, he pushed her to the ground and repeatedly punching her in the face.

She subsequently managed to wriggle free and run off.

Police say the offender is white, 6ft tall with a bulky build and aged in his mid twenties.

He had a flat nose and was wearing pale grey hoody.

Investigating officer PC Denise Arnold said: “This was a very frightening incident for this young woman and we would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“I would like to reassure local residents that this is a rare occurrence and anyone with concerns should speak to their neighbourhood police team or call 101.”
