The fate of Saunderton is to be debated tonight during the first of two public meetings to discuss planning applications which could see as many as 1,000 homes built around the village.

Wycombe District Council organised the meetings to give residents the chance to air their views on the controversial plans which could see the creation of ‘Greater Saunderton’.

Two sites - West Yard Industrial Site in Slough Lane and the Molins site in Haw Lane - were originally earmarked for development.

WDC have already approved a 42-home application from Dandara Homes for the West Yards site and have asked for an independent group of councillors to assess the plans for the village expansion in and around the Molins site.

The Molins site is classified as brownfield land and was vacant for many years prior to being bought by developers St.Congar Land, who have proposed building 212 new homes on this site.

The developers also own a large amount of land next to the site which could allow a total of up to 1,000 new homes to be built on the site and surrounding land, some of which is part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Tonight’s meeting runs from 7-9pm at The Clare Foundation on Wycombe Road. Members of the public need to register their attendance beforehand.
