Chiltern Railways has fought off competition from train companies across the globe to win the title of best train operator.
The company, which is poised to launch a £130 million rail line between Oxford Parkway and London Marylebone on October 26, was up against rail providers from the UK and abroad.
They beat Trenitalia, Eurostar, Virgin Trains, Venice Simplon-Orient Express and Great Western Railway’s Night Riviera to be recognised as the best in travel in the first ever Independent Travel Awards.
The awards were voted for by the public, with a panel of ten expert judges selecting the winner.
Chiltern Railways managing director, Rob Brighouse, said: “Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the entire Chiltern Railways team who work tirelessly to deliver excellent customer service to our customers.
“It means so much that the initial nomination came from our passengers.”
