The male driver who died in a crash involving two cars on the A355 last week has been named as Hugh Pirrie by Buckinghamshire coroner's court.

Mr Pirrie, 65, from Farnborough in Hampshire, was driving a blue Ford Mondeo on the A355 near Coleshill on the evening of Sunday, October 11 when it was involved in a collision with a blue BMW 5 series travelling in the opposite direction.

Mr Pirrie died at the scene, while the female driver of the BMW was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious leg and arm injuries.

Her current condition is not known.

Farnborough Rugby Club posted a tribute on their website to Mr Pirrie, who joined the club in the earlier 1970s.

They said: "Apart from his service to the Club on the pitch, Hughie did much around the clubhouse even when he had health problems. Nothing was too much trouble.

"In recognition of his many contributions to the Club, Hughie was elected as an Honorary Member several years ago. We will miss you Hughie."

An inquest into Mr Pirrie's death has been opened by the coroner's court but the date of when it will begin is yet to be confirmed.
