Charity collectors are hoping people in High Wycombe will dig deep and raise money for lifesaving defibrillators in the south East.

Volunteers from the nation’s leading first aid charity, St John Ambulance, will be hitting the streets of High Wycombe on Saturday as part of the Donate for Defibs fundraiser.

Amber Woodward, regional fundraising coordinator, said: “All the money raised through the appeal will fund St John Ambulance defibrillators in the South East.

“We want people to donate to our appeal and hold their own fundraising events around the country to help raise money for defibrillators.”

According to the charity, when someone suffers a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival falls by 10 per cent every minute without first aid.

But, with CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and the use of a defibrillator within three minutes, their chance of survival could be as high as 70 per cent.
