Stood in silence with thoughts and prayers concentrating on the people of Paris, south Buckinghamshire will continue to pay tribute to the French during a candlelit vigil in High Wycombe this evening.

Residents are invited to join together at the hour-long vigil outside the offices of Wycombe District Council tonight to show solidarity with the victims of the massacre.

Cllr Mahboob Hussain, vice-chairman of Wycombe District Council, said: “Everyone is welcome to join us in taking a moment to reflect not only on the abhorrent events in Paris last week, but also on other recent tragedies.

“Together we stand united, not divided as the perpetrators of these attacks would want us to be.”

The vigil will start at 5.30pm in the car park at the front of the council office.

The car park will be closed between 4.30pm and 7pm to ensure that there are no cars in the car park during the vigil and to allow people to arrive and leave safely.

Anyone wishing to join the vigil is asked to use the pedestrian crossing on Queen Victoria Road if making their way from the town centre.
