Buckinghamshire is home to some of the best countryside pubs in the United Kingdom and in each edition of the Bucks Free Press we feature a different rural option . This week our attention turns to Downley. Nestling in the woods at the back of Downley Common is one of Wycombe’s hidden gems. The Le De Spencer’s Arms is a very popular pub with walkers and very popular with those who know of its location. Many would struggle to find the traditional Chilterns flint pub, but there is plenty to discover, including a home-cooked menu and a range of cask ales and fine walls. Dog friendly, the pub also has a large garden with a climbing frame for younger visitors and the well-liked Sunday roast is another popular offering.
