An aspiring young actor from Beaconsfield has won over audiences after making his film debut in a blockbuster movie.

Eight-year-old Adam Dodd got to rub shoulders with A-list celebrities like Carey Mulligan, Ben Whishaw and Helena Bonham Carter in new feature film Suffragette.

Hotly tipped for an Oscar, the inspiring 2015 film tells the story of the suffragettes as they battle to secure the vote for women in England.

Adam, who trains with Stagecoach Beaconsfield theatre Arts School, plays George, the young son of Carey Mulligan’s character Maud Watts.

He spent three months in 2014 filming his scenes for the movie.

Georgina McCann, Stagecoach Beaconsfield principal said everyone at the theatre company, which runs at St Mary and All Saints C of E Primary School, were ‘very proud’ of the young star and the ‘outstanding’ reviews he has received since the film’s release.

She said: “Adam has been a student at Stagecoach Beaconsfield for three years and was thrilled when he landed the part in the film.

"The auditions were tough, but Adam took it all in his stride and enjoyed the whole experience of working on a film set and getting to know the actors."

The young star made his first appearance on television in a Direct Line commercial and his screen success has helped him land another film role.

He will be taking on a part in new film The Man in the Box alongside Kiefer Sutherland and is due to start filming in 2016.
