Britain’s first female cricket agent visited a college campus in Flackwell Heath to talk about getting into the sport industry.

Fara Gorsi, the country’s first cricket agent registered with the England and Wales Cricket Board, who is also the non-Executive Director at Lancashire Cricket and an FA (Football Association) Intermediary, visited Amersham and Wycombe College to share her advice and experiences in the industry.

The passionate cricket fan, who originally started out in project management and modelling, went on to become an agent for sportsmen and women, setting up her own company called ThinkSports.

Her business now deals with the likes of Manchester City football Club’s Kevin De Bruyne and Pakistan Cricketer Mohammed Amir.

Fara told how the ‘greatest barrier’ to progressing in the sport business is being female in a ‘male dominated sector’ but says she is positive about the future for women.

She said: “Barriers are coming down, especially in football and cricket. Campaigns such as “This Girl Can” are helping to raise awareness of women in sport, as well as enhancing the lives and raising confidence levels of individuals.

“It’s really important that our younger generation is inspired about sport. I’m delighted to be able to pass on my knowledge in the hope that it may help advance their knowledge and inspire them to reach their sporting goals.

“Making the most of the opportunities you are given and pushing until you get to where you want to be are key things I’ve learnt in life.”

Richard Dean, Course Leader, HND Sports Science and Sports Psychology/Mental Conditioning Coach, said Fara’s visit was ‘very successful.’

He said: "Students gained exposure to another side to the sports industry which they haven't been accustomed to. Feedback from them has been great, and I think it's been an eye-opening visit for them all."
