Four music student from a south Bucks college took second place in a national competition earlier this month.
The quartet – known as ‘Paradise Underground’ – from Amersham & Wycombe College claimed silver in the Music category of World Skills 2015, a competition which pitches together learners from colleges nationwide.
The band, made up of Tom Langstone, Antony McCallum, Josh Longman and Robert Scarlett performed their own indie rock compositions in front of an ‘X-Factor style’ panel.
Josh, who plays bass guitar, said: “It’s been a great bonding experience for us all.
“We’ve been playing together and writing our own music since we started at the college over a year ago, so to be recognised for our own compositions and not just covers is especially rewarding.”
The boys all study Level 3 Music Performance under the guidance of Nick Lindsay, who said: “It’s testament to their creativity and professionalism that they managed to take the runner-up spot.
“World Skills provides a huge opportunity for students to experience a live stage and the pressure of performing in front of industry experts.”
