Marlow’s deputy mayor will be one of thousands of Santa’s descending on the town on Sunday to take part in the annual fun run.

Cllr Jocelyn Towns will be dressing as Mrs Clause and running 5k, starting from Higginson Park, in a bid to raise £2000 for the MS Society – one of the mayor’s chosen charities.

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Marlow and the Rotary Club of Marlow Thames, is set for a record breaking event with organisers hoping to beat last years' 2,500 entries.

Cllr Towns said: “It is an absolutely wonderful sight watching the giant crowd of Santa’s descend on the park. Goodness knows what children must think.

“I last ran the Santa Fun Run three years ago when I was mayor and finished it in 37 minutes but I don’t think I will do as well as I did then.”

“The rotary club have given me special permission to raise money for the MS Society – the Mayors chosen charity – so I will be making a donation to them as a thank you."

Olympian Naomi Riches will be running a warm up session to help the Santa’s prepare for the race.

And Cllr Towns will join Sir Steve Redgrave at the finish line to present the medals to the winning three Mr and Mrs Clauses.
