Can a pub be both cosy and traditional as well as contemporary? The Crown pub and restaurant in Winslow Road, Granborough has proved that it can.
The pub boasts a beamed bar with a cosy open fire at one end and a sports bar at the other, as well as a wine bar, where pre-dinner drinks and cocktails are served to visitors.
And it must be doing something right, as it has just won a coveted silver in the pub of the year category of the Beautiful South Awards.
Toby Marchant, the owner of The Crown at Granborough, said: “We reopened our doors just over two years ago after a total refurbishment and since then we have been striving to offer that perfect combination of English hospitality – a genuine village pub with open fires and perfectly kept beers and a restaurant that offers the finest ingredients, skilfully cooked, with great wines in a beautiful, warm and welcoming environment.”
