The long-awaited Wycombe Leisure Centre is set to be opened tomorrow morning, with councillors assuring residents that the project has been completed.

The construction, which cost between £25 million to £30 million, was started in March 2014, as part of the Handy Cross Hub development.

The leisure centre replaces Wycombe Sports Centre, which was originally opened in 1975.

Wycombe District Council chairman, Cllr Ian McEnnis, will say a few words to open the council’s fantastic new leisure centre at 10am tomorrow.

From tomorrow, visitors of the Places for People-run leisure centre will be able to use the brand new swimming pool, 150-station gym and other attractions.

The first phase also includes a new Waitrose supermarket – which opens in the spring – and the High Wycombe Coachway, incorporating an improved park-and-ride service.

The coachway will open later in January with 19 National Express services.

Last month we took a look inside Wycombe Leisure Centre as the finishing touches were put in place.

The park-and-ride relocates from its current home in Cressex to the HXH in February.
