A former police commander who led Operation Yewtree delivered a talk to Bucks New University’s students last week.
Peter Spindler spoke to psychology, criminology, policing and social work students about the lessons they can learn from one of the highest profile UK investigations.
Mr Sprindler played a key role in the high profile Operation Yewtree, an investigation into sexual abuse allegations made against Jimmy Savile and others.
Following the talk, he said: “I was delighted to share my experience with students at Buckinghamshire New University and debate some of the pertinent issues with them.
“The audience included those wanting to work in the police, criminal justice system and social work.
“Each of them is key to creating a culture of empowering professionals to report their suspicions.
“Jimmy Savile successfully groomed the nation and Operation Yewtree has demonstrated that each of us has a responsibility to speak up for those for whom we’re concerned.”
