The home of James Bond and Star Wars could be put up for sale under ambitions new plans from Pinewood Studios.

The internationally renowned film and television studios in Iver Heath, currently undergoing huge expansion, is considering bringing in new investors or even selling the business to raise funds for further growth.

The company – behind the giant box office successes Spectre and The Force Awakens – will now carry out a ‘strategic review’ to come to a decision over its future.

Ivan Dunleavy, chief executive, said: “We believe Pinewood has the potential to build on the strong performance of the last few years to grow further both in the UK and internationally.

“The Board is now looking to identify the best ways to create the appropriate capital structure to allow the Company to realise its goals in the best interests of shareholders.”

The studios’ expansion, which was the subject of a long and fierce planning battle with residents and South Bucks District Council, is on course to be completed on budget in June, bosses say.

It will see the size of the centre almost double, with the 300,000 sq.ft. build on adjacent fields including five new sound stages.

Efforts to generate cash will help pay for the planned phases two and three of the studios' ambitious future expansion plans.
