A man has been charged with kidnap after a young woman was allegedly grabbed by the waist and dragged away in an underpass in Burnham yesterday morning.
Neeraj Sharma, aged 34, of Stowe Road in Slough, has been charged with one count of kidnap - common law, following an incident in Burnham Lane.
At around 9.30am on February 29, the woman, who police have now confirmed is aged 20, was walking towards the railway in an underpass when a man is said to have approached her.
The man allegedly tried to talk to her and walk alongside her, then grabbed her by the waist and started dragging her away, but she managed to grab onto some railings and call police on her mobile phone.
She suffered cuts to her hand and her elbow.
Sharma was arrested yesterday and charged this morning, March 1.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Slough Magistrates' Court today and has since been remanded in custody again to appear at Reading Crown Court on April 4.
