A lot has changed in 50 years.

Here we turn back the clock (and pages) to see what was making headlines five decades ago, on Friday, April 29, 1966.

At a time when England was still waiting for a football World Cup victory and Harold Wilson was prime minister, the Bucks Free Press was bringing readers from across the county the latest news.

From a front page highlighting a plea for police to be given mini two-way radio transmitters, to flooding near Marlow Bridge, here we take a look back at some of the big stories.

Elsewhere, from adverts placed throughout the paper, it was possible to buy a new top-of-the-range camera for £19, and state-of-the-art cars available on forecourts included the hugely popular Austin 1100, the Mini, Ford’s Cortina and Vauxhall model the Victor.

And, in sport news five decades ago, Wycombe Wanderers were celebrating cup success by lifting the Wycombe Hospital Cup, with Tony Horseman voted man of the match for his second-half goals.
