Only Fools and Horses star Sue Holderness will officially open a new charity shop in Gerrards Cross this week.

Sue, who is best known for playing Marlene Boyce in the popular sitcom, will cut the ribbon and celebratory cake as Thames Hospice opens a shop at 27 Packhorse Road on Friday (May 6).

The Thames Hospice shop will help the charity raise the £7 million it needs each year to deliver end-of-life and palliative care in people’s homes and at its hospice in Windsor.

The actress will join Councillor Chris Brown, Chairman of Gerrards Cross Town Council, along with some of the hospice’s medical team, staff and volunteers at the new store at 12pm for the celebration.

Julie Rowley, Thames Hospice Director of Retail, hopes as many people as possible will join their celebration.

She said: “We are thrilled to be able to offer this exciting shopping prospect in Gerrards Cross. We have been serving the local community for so many years and the opportunity to have a High Street presence is amazing.”

The shop will stock womenswear, made-over furniture, books, new handbags, scarves and accessories and will have a retro men’s fashion section.
